The Dry Oil SafeClone Body Mist Base is a 100% silicone free, clear color-less, odor-less cosmetic fluid. It works the same as and can be used as a green, enviromentally friendly substitute for cyclomethicone but is much gentler and non-toxic. It is not sticky or oily and leaves a clean, slick feeling when applied.

SafeClone can be used as a perfume base, body mist spray, air freshener spray, hair shine enhancer, conditioner and detangler or in creams and as an additive in lotions to take away the greasy feel. Also works great in exfoliants, scrubs, cleansers and even cleaning sprays!

The toxicity problem with the Cyclomethicones D4 fluids and their withdrawal from the market has prompted formulators to proactively look for safe alternatives to the other silicone fluids as well. Up until now, a suitable replacement for the widely used Cyclopentasiloxane volatile silicone fluid hadn't been found, but triangle-testing on several basic formulations has shown that SafeClone is indistinguishable from a standard cyclopentasiloxane, yet it is 100% silicone-free. Formulators now have a choice when they develop new products, and they can begin replacing the Cyclopentasiloxane that they now use, with a fully functioning substitute.

SafeClone is produced from highly purified products, suitable for cosmetics, derived from naphtha. It contains approximately 55% Isohexadecane (CAS#93685-80-4/EINECS#297-628-2), 35% Isododecane (CAS #93685-81-5/EINECS #297-629-8) and 10% C13-15 Alkane (CAS#64742-46-7/EINECS #265-148-2). It does not have any substances of very high concern (SVHC) listed on the ECHA website, nor does it contain any materials considered to be nanoparticles, genetically modified, carcinogenic, mutagenic, or a reproductive toxin. It is free from any designated EU allergens, has not been animal tested, and contains no animal-derived ingredients.
Due to its manufacturing process, it is also free of BSE, TSE, Gluten, Phthalates, Nuts, Glycol ethers, nonylphenols, nitrosomines, peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, seeds, fish, shellfish, soybeans, cereals, yeast, corn, residual solvents, DMSO, PCAs, and its heavy metal content, though not a specification, is typically less than 1 ppm. It is expected to comply with California Prop 65, and since it contains isododecane, it contains approximately 35% of a California LV-VOC. The ingredients are acceptable for cosmetics in Japan, Korea, Europe, USA, Australia and are listed on China’s IECSC.
SafeClone does not have a shelf life (after which it is not usable), but we do specify a recertification date of 5 years from the date of manufacture.
