The Balm (or balsam) of Gilead was once a much sought after healing ointment mentioned six times in the Bible. Not only did it heal wounds quickly, it was also used to relieve pain. It was also called "the Balm of Mecca" and the "Balm of Jericho," but its primary source is associated with Gilead, which is modern day Jordan. "Gilead" means "rugged" in Hebrew, an accurate description of that mountainous land.

A powerfully aromatic and healing resin which is high in salicylic acid. This salicylic acid is the same active ingredient found in aspirin. The scent of this oil is sweet and clean, like the freshest spring day. It is analgesic, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory. In spring the buds of these trees begin to ooze with yellow-green sap while filling the surrounding air with a miraculous scent.

How to Use: Massage Balm of Gilead Oil into tired muscles and joints, or pour approximately one tablespoon into hot bath water, sit, and relax, or apply directly to minor skin irritations.  Enjoy the uplifting scent.
