Zeolites are minerals that contain mainly aluminum and silicon compounds. They are used as drying agents, in detergents, and in water and air purifiers.
Zeolites are volcanic minerals which act as ion-exchange agents and are known to have a high negative charge and high absorptive properties. This clay is much more coarse than most clays, which excels as an exfoliant in soap and skincare.
Appearance: Light gray colored powder.
Benefits: Like Bentonite clay Zeolites are active minerals that have earned a reputation as powerful natural cleansing agents for the skin and body.
Application: Powdered Zeolite is a chalky substance which is easy to mix and does not clump. Thus it is just a matter of adding water and it's ready to use for baths and footbaths. Due to its chalkiness however, it does not form into a paste very well so it requires a base if it is to be used for facials or body wraps etc.
Directions: Incorporate into formula, amount as desired. Common use levels are 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon per pound of base. If making a face mask, the common use level is 50-75%. Test your final product to insure optimal performance.
