Ingredients: Certified organic cotton, ecologically certified cellulose pulp, plant starch, non-toxic glue
Natracare Maxi pads are made from only certified organic 100% cotton and renewable and sustainable plant cellulose. They are totally plastic-free, and like all of Natracare products, are totally chlorine-free because we never use chlorine bleach in any of our production processes.
Being plastic-free means Natracare does not contain any polyethylene, polypropylene or polyacrylate super absorbents, all of which can irritate the skin.
Women today are conscious of the need to restrict their contact with synthetic materials and unnecessary chemicals and additives. They are becoming more aware that most of the widely available sanitary pads sold today, contain a blend of chlorine-bleached pulp, polypropylene, polyacrylates and plastic.
For each monthly cycle, it makes sense to choose a pad that is made from natural materials. Many gynaecologists have advised women with sensitive skin to use natracare pads to reduce their contact with chlorine bleached materials, and also products containing synthetics, latex and super absorbents made from petrochemicals. Every year, billions of plastic laden pads are disposed of, and generally they end up in landfill sites to sit unaltered for hundreds of years. Every year, in Britain alone, we would have to dig a hole three hundred feet deep and three hundred feet wide to bury the sanitary pads that are thrown away.
Natracare chemical free pads are high quality products made from only pure and natural materials that are made from plant cellulose. They are not chlorine bleached and are free of rayon, plastics and other similar synthetic materials that have a negative impact on our environment. They are comfortable and reliable and available in different absorbencies and styles. The regular pad is narrower towards the middle of the pad so that it fits the contours of the body more readily, whilst the Slender and Super pads are the same width all along the pad’s length for a more traditional fit. The Ultra with wings is a slim pad with the added protection of wings. They are individually wrapped so that they can be kept discretely in your bag.
Women can be reassured that Natracare Ultra pads do not contain synthetic materials, chemical additives such as binders or surfactants, fragrances or dyes and because of the organic and natural materials used, are over 95% biodegradable and compostable. The absorbent core of the pad is made from Forest Stewardship Council certified pulp (FSC) and the cover that is next to your skin is certified organic 100% cotton. The pads are individually wrapped in biodegradable purse packs.
The slim style of the Ultra pad is very discreet with the added security of wings. The absorbent core absorbs the menstrual fluid and locks it away so that the soft organic cotton cover allows your skin to breath whilst at the same time keeping you dry. There is a full choice of absorbencies to choose from and the super absorbency is suitable for medium flow.

Nordic Ecolabelling criteria is based on life cycle analyses, from the raw materials used in the production process to the recycling of the finished product. Criteria follow the precautionary principle. For example, when uncertain of the environmental impact of some chemicals or processes, no criteria will be developed for products that contain these chemicals until more knowledge is gained on their environmental consequences.
